I agree with the previous answers regarding ethical considerations for the local community and cautionary behaviour related to the public image of the foundation and the mining business. I would take a close look into the history of both these potential funders and their motivations for wanting to partner with the local community group. Further, I would look into how the church fits within the community i.e. shared faith in the same religion?
